Warm Weather Here We Come

Tuesday, February 1 We left Conroe as planned on schedule.  Just in the nick of time I might add.  As we were  shutting down all the motor homes systems ( heat, water, electricty, TV etc.) the temperature dropped from 70 to 40 ( that’s 30 degrees ) in ten minutes.  We left with storms, wind gusts of 50+ mph; hard to imagine weather much worse.  Fortunately, we were ahead of the storm so to speak and things got better.  We traveled secondary roads to Beaumont where we picked up I10 for a race East.  Late afternoon we arrived at our planned stop in Mandeville, LA at Fontainebleau State Park on the shore of lake Ponchartrain.  New Orleans is still there but there’ll be no visit this time.

Wednesday,  Feb 2 Up early for another forced march on the road today.  I12 around Lake Ponchartrain, I10 across MS, AL, and about 160  miles into FL.  Another long day on the road but the end is in sight.  Tonight, we’re at Lake Seminole, at East Bank which is a COE park in south GA ( it’s a five state day) .  This could be a destination but for this trip it’s an overnight stop.

Tomorrow is another day on the road but one that promises to be shorter.  We have only 400 miles to get to our destination and 2 days to get there.  Port Charlotte here we come.
