We’re moving on down the road a little at a time. Arrived at Fountainebleau yesterday. For those that don’t know, Fountainebleau is located on the shore of Lake Ponchartrain across from New Orleans. As the crow flies, it’s only a few miles but as the road and bridges take you there, it’s probably 20 or more miles. We won’t make the trip this time.
Dinner tonight will be Shrimp Etouffee. This is about as close as we’re likely to get to local cuisine this trip through LA. It’s both interesting and fun to visit the grocery store here. It’s almost like being in a foreign country. Frog legs, alligator, Craw fish, lots of seasonings like slap ya mama, etouffee mix (lots of flavors and colors) and on and on. Last yearwhen we passed through this area, we had an illness that we attributed to local craw fish so this year we’ll play it safe.
We’ have only two more days on the road before we get to Conroe, TX where we plan to stay for about 3 weeks. Hopefully we’ll avoid bad weather between here and there.
