4/16 through 4/20
Since Mann is president of the Dogwood Chapter of FMCA, he was invited to attend the GEAR (Greater Eastern Area Rally) planning session. All in all, this wasn’t exactly a fun way to spend a couple of days but it was necessary. We decided to spend a few extra days in the general area since there is a Dogwood Chapter Rally scheduled for next weekend at VA International Raceway and we don’t want to drive back to Richmond and then return after only a few days. We participated in planning activities all day Saturday followed by a group dinner which was very nice.
Sunday morning we participated in the obligatory breakfast of doughnuts and coffee and then hustled off to Thousand Trails Mocksville for a few days. During that time we managed to stay pretty busy by visiting Carolyns relatives in Statesville, NC, a little R&R just setting around and on Wednesday We drove to Welcome NC where we had breakfast at Bojangles then toured the Richard Childress Racing Museum. Bojangles is always a treat for us since we love their gravy biscuits. The RC museum is a really nice stop and recommended for any of you car / racing nuts. If you like this kind of stuff, you could easily spend most of a day looking at all that’s offered here.
